“Do Singaporeans dress badly?”

Singaporeans’ taste of fashion:

Every country has their own style of fashion just like their culture. In Hong Kong and Taiwan, people can wear many layers of clothing to create their own fashion. In western country, there are citizens that wear as little as they can. They have many different fashions for different season and that is also because they get to enjoy the four seasons.

In Singapore, we get a mixture of other countries’ fashion into our streets. Walk down orchard road, how many copies of fashion can we see. There is no unique dressing sense here in Singapore, its like a cloning industry. Foreigners wear out the colors of the clothes and here, we copy so we blend into them. This is Singapore, shouldn’t them be the ones that should blend in into our fashion and culture? Maybe because we have too many races here in Singapore that rojak the fashion of Singaporeans. Its not a bad thing though, at least we have t-shirts and jeans that goes well with our ‘singlish’.

Personally, I prefer jeans and t-shirts at times. They make me feel comfortable and I feel good just wearing them. We don’t have to go out to the streets with heavy make-up and ‘perfect to the tips’ dressing. As long as we wear with confidence, we are the brightest star on the street. Of course, as ladies, we need to dress up at the right occasions too. No matter what we wear, just remember that we are who we are.

The PJ part:

My PJ is just the normal pants and t-shirt. Just like those free t-shirts that you get when you attend an event or something similar. Cheap pants that are bought from the market that cost you less than S$10. Some of them are even the P.E shirts that I wear during primary and secondary school days. Whats wrong with those? Absolutely nothing. I wear them for my jogging session, to the market or even shopping centres around my neighbourhood. The same things applies, as long as the confidence level is there, everything you wear will be the next fashion in line.

Below are pictures of me in PJ. Even some of my cousins, grandma and her maid. Look at the smiles. Happy with just what we are wearing, no worries.

My post shall then end with the picture. This is what I think about dressing sense of Singaporeans. They may look good but is there a real style that belongs to us and our culture? I donno if i side-tracked for this post but at least this is an update. Haha. Lame.
